Read my Story
Growing up in London, UK, Eylem loved to perform and to write poetry and, later, songs. She went on to study Performing Arts at college as well as attending the respected VocalTech music school (now BIMM). During this time she won several acting roles and joined an all female singing group. The girls gained a residency at the London Arena as the house act for the London Knights ice hockey team, known as Steamy Knights. In 2003, Steamy Knights was shortlisted for the UK’s Eurovision entry with their song ‘First night’.
Eylem went on to record solo demos of self-written songs, one of which was picked up by the underground music scene in Turkey and became a secret hit! Her live performance at a music festival in Cyprus caught the attention of music executives and Eylem signed a contract with Turkish label Dokuz Sekiz Müzik, with whom she released three albums and a standalone single.
Released in 2006, Eylem’s debut album, Aman, sold over 100000 copies and netted four hit singles and four awards. Her follow up, Bir Sonraki (Next), in 2008, featured two more hits and won ‘Best album’ at the 2009 Kıbrıs’ın En İyileri Ödül Töreni (Best in Cyprus awards). In 2010, Eylem released standalone single ‘2010 Istanbul’ and, the following year, album Bugün Burda (Today is Here).
Eylem featured as an ambassador for international mobile network operator Lycamobile in 2011-12 before choosing to take a break from performing. However, her music continued to reach new audiences, including featuring in an episode of top US TV drama Homeland(Season 5 episode 1 – ‘Separation anxiety’).
Reinvigorated, Eylem is currently working on new material and looks forward to seeing you at her next performances.
